My name is Amanda Murcutt. I have a passion for animals, having loved and owned them
for the majority of my life. I couldn't live without them.
In 2005 I completed a Bachelor of Animal Science and Management at Melbourne University, majoring
in animal behaviour, genetics and physiology. I was also accepted into Honours. My experience with animal handling
is extensive through various work placements including Guide Dogs Victoria and Chirnside Park Veterinary Clinic.
Furthermore, for two years I volunteered in the puppy enclosure at the RSPCA in Burwood,
working in both puppy quarantine and sales.
In 2006, I completed a Certificate Three in Dog Training and Behaviour at the National
Dog Trainers Federation and hope to pursue these studies further over the coming years, with more in-depth study and
observations of canine behaviour. To add to my training experience, I am also an instructor at our local obedience
dog club - Croydon and District.
Pets as Therapy has always been a passion of mine and in 2006, I completed a PAT course through Velma's Pets as Therapy. I feel that the work done through this provides much joy to the days of residents at our local Aged Care Facility.
I am also a member of the Victorian Canine Association, through which I actively trial
my dogs in both agility, obedience and conformation. I would also like to get involved in flyball, herding and doggy dancing later down the track.
