Leo and I have been training in obedience since he was 10 weeks old. From the start, he has been an absolute
pleasure to train, always willing to work with a big smile and a whole bunch of enthusiasm. I could not have asked for a better
dog to introduce me into the world of obedience trialling.
Leo and I commenced trialling in August 2006 and on the
17th of March 2007, Leo obtained his CCD title after 5 trials (3 passes needed). He did it in fine style, holding his stays
under difficult conditions and topping it off with a very close, 3rd place win. Leo then continued to excel by passing again
in the afternoon trial, gaining an equal first place, but 2nd place on the count back!
Shortly after gaining his CCD, Leo went straight in to gain his CD title by the 2nd June 2007! He
did this in fine style, gaining all 3 passes within 3 weeks of each other. Leo achieved his CD title with 2 first places
and one second place (see below for full results).
After taking a short break from the obedience rings, we came back in Nov 2007 to tackle the Open rings.
Much to my surprise, at our first 2 trials at this level, Leo pulled off 2 passes toward his open title! It took
us a short while to get that final pass, with often beautiful work by Leo with one or two small mistakes. On the
20th April however, at our home grounds, Leo finished off his title in fine style.
I am extremely proud of this boy and the way he constantly attacks everything with enthusiasm. His
attitude in the ring is commented on by many. We will be taking a break from the rings again, in order to train for
UD and to let our young girl have her chance out and about.
